High On Life: Review?

Quick and painless here: I have never watched Rick and Morty. That being said, I do have an odd sense of humor and find the weirdest things funny. Playing through High On Life, I have had the occasional chuckle, but found myself being more annoyed than anything else. Sure, there is a ton of dialogue but it is not the amount that got on my nerves. It was that I really felt it was trying TOO hard to make me laugh. You ever see someone bomb a joke and resort to self-physical harm to try and get a reaction? That is what I feel this game is. That last-ditch effort to squeeze a peep of sound out of my mouth.

The gameplay here is fine. Pew pew and knife your way through a bunch of foul-mouth aliens on various planets/cities. I have no problems with any of the weapons or methods of murder and there IS an option to silence the dialogue a bit. There's just nothing really NEW to the game. It is very colorful and very over-the-top which I do appreciate. The art is awesome. I just get rubbed the wrong when I play a game that knows it is a game. "Fucking awful level design huh?" Isn't what I like hearing when I'm trying to explore. Again, the game isn't bad, it is just REALLY annoying.

You can tune it out or turn it off but that is not what the developers had in mind. They want to make sure your gun yells at you for attempting to kill innocent aliens. They want your knife to scream "LET'S RIP OUT HIS GUTS" and it happens. A lot. While I do see where a lot of the humor will land for its target audience, I do see that it is just...not for me.

High On Life FEELS fine. You run, you jump, you crouch. All standard. Hidden pathways or obstructions to be cleared on a return run are all here for you to get a bit out of the levels here as you will backtrack once you find a certain item or get to a story point/mission objective.

You will do this a lot. Get a mission, go through a level, find some stuff you cannot get to, and come back to it later once you have the proper tools. It seems mundane and it is.

The story, on the other hand, is kind of the same. You're a human who gets invaded by aliens. You then fight with the aliens to save your world from being doomed. There are some plot twists and funny moments sprinkled in here and there but it is honestly nothing too Best Narrative of the year worthy.

There are absolutely fun times to be had in High On Life and I am positive a lot of people will find this to be hilarious. I can't like every game, though, and not every video game will resonate with me. If you are looking for a bad word filled, alien gut blasting, Rick and Morty adventure, this is right up your alley. If you are looking for a more serious story with character development or innovative features, I'd pass on High On Life. Or at least give a go on Xbox Game Pass, you may unlock a sailor's humor you never knew you had.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Equip And Use Your Glider

Are you wondering how to use your new Glider in Disney Dreamlight Valley? Have no fear as I am here to tell you exactly how to do it! If you happen to be blasting or skipping through menus in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you may be wondering how the heck to equip that shiny new surfboard glider you got. Well, all you have to do is go to your Wardrobe, scroll down to Gliders and select it! Easy as a hot dog! But how do you hop on this thing and use it? Well for that, first you MUST make sure your stamina bar is in the yellow. You do this by eating cooked meals that will take you above your maximum stamina bar. Once this is complete, just run for a few seconds until an icon appears in the bottom left side of the screen. Tap that button (For me, on Xbox, it's B) and PERFECTO! You'll be gliding in no time! Make sure to pay attention to your stamina bar as it will run out pretty quickly though! For more tips, opinions, and overall shenanigans, make sure to leave a comment and come back...

Movie Backlog: The Fast And The Furious (2001)

I'm a bit ashamed of myself. And, to a point, somewhat proud. I have never watched any of the Fast and Furious movies other than 2 Fast 2 Furious for some reason. So I got sick over the weekend and decided to start watching the entire season to see what I have missed over the last 20 years. Here are some of my thoughts on the first movie into this adrenaline-filled, NOS-injected, action-packed love story.  The Fast This movie starts out at a pretty fast pace. Quick racing, quick fights, all the machismo you can shake a stick at. We get to follow Brian O'Connor, played by the late Paul Walker. A blonde surfer type who is an undercover cop sent to investigate the infamous street racing gang leader, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel). This is because a bunch of truck's have been hijacked and good ole Dommy boy is the main suspect. We find out the Brian likes tuna sandwiches. Pretty dang cool I guess. I'm not a car guy and I will never pretend to be, but what I noticed is there are ...

A.K.I Slithers into Street Fighter 6!

The second Street Fighter 6 DLC character is here! A.K.I, a brand new character to the series arrived this week, just in time for Halloween. Her slithery, unsettling, poison wielding moves will be sure to not only creep out players, but also shake things up for the online warriors out there.    She has a mix of mid and long range range moves, plus projectiles and specials that inflict poison on the opponent. Her moveset and specials take inspiration from F.A.N.G. Well... not surprising because she's an apprentice of F.A.N.G! Not only that, she's a little bit obsessed with him. Ok, maybe A LOT bit obsessed. Don’t worry though, she’s way cooler than F.A.N.G. Her design (I'm still 50/50 on the hair) and engaging move set make her way more appealing to use than her obsession.   Street Fighter's YouTube page has a great breakdown of her gameplay. If you want to learn a bit about her move set, strengths, and weaknesses, I recommend that you watch! So far I’m having a blast us...
