Palworld: Is It Pokemon Or Is It Ark?

Palworld has released and has come out swinging HARD. Knocking Fortnite off of the most played list, selling a gazillion copies and, stirring up controversies. That's right, I am sure you have heard the rumors of AI assets, Pokemon modeling theft, and overall a general sense of "This is definitely a knock off Nintendo game."

But does that deter you? I see the numbers and it looks like the consensus is no. Palworld itself has sold over 8 MILLION copies of the game. Proving one of two things: People do not care about how a game is made, as long as it has hype, they will buy it. OR people have been sick of the recent releases of Pokemon and were looking to find something they can be content with.

Actually, I think it's both of the above. Now, this is a game that has been branded as "Pokemon with guns" and I have played it and while it for sure has the undertones of the game, it feels so much different. To me, Palworld feels more like Ark with creatures that vaguely to sometimes blatantly look like Pocket Monsters. You don't necessarily tame any of the monsters to capture them but you do give them a full on beatdown. Whether that's with a stick, a companion, or both, you lower the health of your opponent and throw a sphere at them in hopes that they forgive you and join your squad.

I know I know, minus the stick part is sounds familiar. But it feels different than playing something like Arceus. Let's take a look at this from a purely video game/gameplay standpoint.  The entire time I played the game the reality is that I felt like I was playing just another survival game. Palworld's hype has reached an all-time high for sure but it doesn't actually do anything spectacular. You start off by punching, you guessed it, trees. You also pick up rocks. You build a workbench. You build a square house. You craft cloth clothes. All of these things I have done a million times before in various survival games. Sure, your little Pals you capture can assist you in speeding up the ungodly long "work times" to craft something but it feels more for show than anything else. I swear to you my beginnings in Ark felt nearly identical to this game (without the super obvious sounds and references to The Legend Of Zelda). The only major difference was when I spawned, a vicious dino wasn't ensuring that I couldn't leave the area.

If anything, Palworld has copied the trend of the stereotypical Survival game. I will admit that I bought into that hype at the beginning and for the first few hours, I was excited to what I would find next. Boss battles, capturing humans (yes) and crafting a submachine gun for your Pal all SEEM exciting, but ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, Palworld is just another survival game. If you like those, you'll like Palworld. If you were looking for something different and innovative in the genre, you may be disappointed.

Controversies aside, from a video game standpoint, Palworld has failed to keep me interested for more than a few hours. I may be in the minority here but I do not see myself hopping back in to more of the game except for maybe unlocking a few of the easier achievements to pad my Xbox Gamerscore.

Have you played Palworld? What are your thoughts on the game?

Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Equip And Use Your Glider

Are you wondering how to use your new Glider in Disney Dreamlight Valley? Have no fear as I am here to tell you exactly how to do it! If you happen to be blasting or skipping through menus in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you may be wondering how the heck to equip that shiny new surfboard glider you got. Well, all you have to do is go to your Wardrobe, scroll down to Gliders and select it! Easy as a hot dog! But how do you hop on this thing and use it? Well for that, first you MUST make sure your stamina bar is in the yellow. You do this by eating cooked meals that will take you above your maximum stamina bar. Once this is complete, just run for a few seconds until an icon appears in the bottom left side of the screen. Tap that button (For me, on Xbox, it's B) and PERFECTO! You'll be gliding in no time! Make sure to pay attention to your stamina bar as it will run out pretty quickly though! For more tips, opinions, and overall shenanigans, make sure to leave a comment and come back

Movie Backlog: The Fast And The Furious (2001)

I'm a bit ashamed of myself. And, to a point, somewhat proud. I have never watched any of the Fast and Furious movies other than 2 Fast 2 Furious for some reason. So I got sick over the weekend and decided to start watching the entire season to see what I have missed over the last 20 years. Here are some of my thoughts on the first movie into this adrenaline-filled, NOS-injected, action-packed love story.  The Fast This movie starts out at a pretty fast pace. Quick racing, quick fights, all the machismo you can shake a stick at. We get to follow Brian O'Connor, played by the late Paul Walker. A blonde surfer type who is an undercover cop sent to investigate the infamous street racing gang leader, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel). This is because a bunch of truck's have been hijacked and good ole Dommy boy is the main suspect. We find out the Brian likes tuna sandwiches. Pretty dang cool I guess. I'm not a car guy and I will never pretend to be, but what I noticed is there are

A.K.I Slithers into Street Fighter 6!

The second Street Fighter 6 DLC character is here! A.K.I, a brand new character to the series arrived this week, just in time for Halloween. Her slithery, unsettling, poison wielding moves will be sure to not only creep out players, but also shake things up for the online warriors out there.    She has a mix of mid and long range range moves, plus projectiles and specials that inflict poison on the opponent. Her moveset and specials take inspiration from F.A.N.G. Well... not surprising because she's an apprentice of F.A.N.G! Not only that, she's a little bit obsessed with him. Ok, maybe A LOT bit obsessed. Don’t worry though, she’s way cooler than F.A.N.G. Her design (I'm still 50/50 on the hair) and engaging move set make her way more appealing to use than her obsession.   Street Fighter's YouTube page has a great breakdown of her gameplay. If you want to learn a bit about her move set, strengths, and weaknesses, I recommend that you watch! So far I’m having a blast us
