Akuma Arrives!

One of my most played games last year was Street Fighter 6. I couldn’t get enough of its style, charisma (rizz?), and addictive gameplay. It really cemented itself as one of my favorite fighting games I’ve ever challenged myself to play. As time went on though, I did fall off. There are too many great games out there grasping for my attention! While a few of the DLC characters like A.K.I gave me reason to boot the game back up, I really was only picking it up sporadically. However, Capcom is dropping their latest and final wave 1 DLC character, Akuma, on May 22nd which has me pumped!


Akuma has always been one of the dopest characters in the series. The purple fireballs that he throws on the ground OR the air, plus the Raging Demon super move are just so iconic. This is very 2012 of me to say, but he has so much swag. One of my favorite iterations of him was from Tekken 7. I mean, Akuma vs. Negan from the Walking Dead? Can’t beat that. While we don’t have crossovers like that from Tekken 7, Street Fighter 6 has expertly made each character unique, fun, and well, just freakin’ cool! Akuma is no exception. I can’t wait to throw some jumping fireballs and catch someone with a raging demon on May 22nd. I’m locked in as they say. 


If Akuma isn’t enough to get you excited to play some Street Fighter 6, (if not, I don’t know what to tell you) maybe some balance updates and gameplay to freshen up the gameplay will! One of the most interesting changes to the gameplay is a new Drive Reversal option. This new option will allows a knocked-down player to use a reversal on wake-up. Basically, a get out of jail free card if your ass is on the ground. Characters who don’t have a wake-up option are probably thrilled right now as this can cause opponents to second-guess their options on knockdown. I think this is a cool change to the gameplay that adds an extra wrinkle and shakes things up a bit. This will cause players to second-guess their options when their opponent is knocked down.


On top of this, there's going to be a bunch of balance patches that give certain characters new combo routes and potentially buffed moves. Here's the trailer below: 👇

Movie Backlog: The Fast And The Furious (2001)

 I'm a bit ashamed of myself. And, to a point, somewhat proud. I have never watched any of the Fast and Furious movies other than 2 Fast 2 Furious for some reason. So I got sick over the weekend and decided to start watching the entire season to see what I have missed over the last 20 years. Here are some of my thoughts on the first movie into this adrenaline-filled, NOS-injected, action-packed love story.  The Fast This movie starts out at a pretty fast pace. Quick racing, quick fights, all the machismo you can shake a stick at. We get to follow Brian O'Connor, played by the late Paul Walker. A blonde surfer type who is an undercover cop sent to investigate the infamous street racing gang leader, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel). This is because a bunch of truck's have been hijacked and good ole Dommy boy is the main suspect. We find out the Brian likes tuna sandwiches. Pretty dang cool I guess. A.K.I Slithers into Street Fighter 6!

The second Street Fighter 6 DLC character is here! A.K.I, a brand new character to the series arrived this week, just in time for Halloween. Her slithery, unsettling, poison wielding moves will be sure to not only creep out players, but also shake things up for the online warriors out there.    She has a mix of mid and long range range moves, plus projectiles and specials that inflict poison on the opponent. Her moveset and specials take inspiration from F.A.N.G. Well... not surprising because she's an apprentice of F.A.N.G! Not only that, she's a little bit obsessed with him. Ok, maybe A LOT bit obsessed. Don’t worry though, she’s way cooler than F.A.N.G. Her design (I'm still 50/50 on the hair) and engaging move set make her way more appealing to use than her obsession.   Street Fighter's YouTube page has a great breakdown of her gameplay.
