NBA Jam is back!?!
While it's not exactly NBA Jam, the vibes are revived with the new hoops game, NBA SUPERSTARS. The aesthetics, flash, and explosiveness which are staples of previous Jam entries are all here. It’s even got the iconic Tim Kitzrow on the mic. BOOM SHAKALAKA! If you’re a fan of arcade sports games this game was made for you. The only problem is that the only way to play it is to go to an arcade as there is currently no news for a console or PC port. Dave & Busters here I come.

Here are some of my takeaways and thoughts:
- They’ve decided to go with 3 v 3 instead of 2 v 2, and I’m all for it. This just means more lineup experimentation and more chaos!
- There are a total of 120 playable NBA players. This means each team will have 4 total players to choose from (I didn't even use a calculator for that). Not the best, no the worst. It makes me wonder who will make the cut! I did some investigating on the roster selection. Interestingly Corey Kispert made the cut over Deni Avdija for the Wizards! I know I'm probably the only Wizards fan out there, but hey to me this was a shocker.
- Some of the movements do seem a bit stiff, especially on the dunks and jump shots. It really reminds me of NBA Jam from the PS2/XBOX era.
- The use of a QR code to keep track of your stats is a cool idea!
- For some of the high-flying dunks they use alternative camera angles. This creates a cool visual effect that can keep things engaging.
Let's hope that this does well in arcades and eventually makes it's way to consoles. More NBA Jam style basketball games is always a win!
