Looking for a good way to cozy up and let a bunch of demons loose in your household? Have no fear (or do because some of these are creepy) as Don't Revive Your Friends has some recommendations to up the scare factor in your life.
1. Outlast
Outlast relies on the limitations of batteries to really get your heart racing. There is no real combat in this game but plenty of jumpscares and creatures to have you running through the halls of this prison all the while trying to report and solve a mystery of "What the hell is going on here?" It's definitely creepy and has made me pause a few times to keep my panic attack at bay.
2. Resident Evil 7
I know there are newer Resident Evil games out there. Remakes and Village, but there is something absolutely so terrifying about 7. The whole family concept of killers reminds me of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. The whole vibe here will certainly give you the creeps and have your heart racing throughout the story.
3. Little Nightmares
The start of this series is a good and spooky one. Little Nightmares seems very cutesy as it is a puzzle-platformer but do not let that fool you. There are plenty of moments to freak you out or instinctively pause the game out of shock. I recommend giving this a go at night!
4. Alien: Isolation
Love the Alien movies and wish to see a Xenomorph up close? You will in Alien: Isolation. You take control of Amanda Ripley (the daughter of Ellen from the movies) and have to run and hide from the xenomorph as well as some creepy crash test dummies that will wreck your life. A thriller from start to finish, I recommend this for a good jump.
5. Dead By Daylight
Looking for something you can play with friends? Dead By Daylight has been around since 2016 and has been increasing it's number of licensed IP characters ever since. Run away from killers like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Chucky as you and 3 other survivors (including Nic Cage!) try repair generators to escape whatever nightmarish hell you woke up in.
RETRO BONUS: Splatterhouse 2
For whatever reason, I was allowed to play Splatterhouse as a kid. I shouldn't have because this game haunted me for such a long time. A beat em up on the Sega Genesis but with a horror twist, Splatterhouse 2 is gory, freaky, and fun!
Make sure you get your pumpkin spice lattes and your ritual circles ready. Fall is my favorite time of year and these games will make it even better!
