NBA Jam is Back?!

NBA Jam is back!?!  While it's not exactly NBA Jam, the vibes are revived with the new hoops game, NBA SUPERSTARS. The aesthetics, flash, and explosiveness which are staples of previous Jam entries are all here. It’s even got the iconic Tim Kitzrow on the mic. BOOM SHAKALAKA! If you’re a fan of arcade sports games this game was made for you. The only problem is that the only way to play it is to go to an arcade as there is currently no news for a console or PC port. Dave & Busters here I come.  Check out the trailer here ⬇ Here are some of my takeaways and thoughts: They’ve decided to go with 3 v 3 instead of 2 v 2, and I’m all for it. This just means more lineup experimentation and more chaos! There are a total of 120 playable NBA players. This means each team will have 4 total players to choose from (I didn't even use a calculator for that). Not the best, no the worst. It makes me wonder who will make the cut! I did some investigating on the roster selection. Interestin

Akuma Arrives!

One of my most played games last year was Street Fighter 6. I couldn’t get enough of its style, charisma (rizz?), and addictive gameplay. It really cemented itself as one of my favorite fighting games I’ve ever challenged myself to play. As time went on though, I did fall off. There are too many great games out there grasping for my attention! While a few of the DLC characters like A.K.I gave me reason to boot the game back up, I really was only picking it up sporadically. However, Capcom is dropping their latest and final wave 1 DLC character, Akuma, on May 22nd which has me pumped! Akuma has always been one of the dopest characters in the series. The purple fireballs that he throws on the ground OR the air, plus the Raging Demon super move are just so iconic. This is very 2012 of me to say, but he has so much swag. One of my favorite iterations of him was from Tekken 7. I mean, Akuma vs. Negan from the Walking Dead? Can’t beat that. While we don’t have crossovers like that from Tekke

Palworld: Is It Pokemon Or Is It Ark?

Palworld has released and has come out swinging HARD. Knocking Fortnite off of the most played list, selling a gazillion copies and, stirring up controversies. That's right, I am sure you have heard the rumors of AI assets, Pokemon modeling theft, and overall a general sense of "This is definitely a knock off Nintendo game." But does that deter you? I see the numbers and it looks like the consensus is no. Palworld itself has sold over 8 MILLION copies of the game. Proving one of two things: People do not care about how a game is made, as long as it has hype, they will buy it. OR people have been sick of the recent releases of Pokemon and were looking to find something they can be content with. Actually, I think it's both of the above. Now, this is a game that has been branded as "Pokemon with guns" and I have played it and while it for sure has the undertones of the game, it feels so much different. To me, Palworld feels more like Ark with creatures that vag

E3 Is Officially Dead

The former video game conference juggernaut, E3, has announced today that is no more. What used to be a spectacle for media goers, video game enthusiasts and more has failed with their expectations over the past few years especially after Covid-19 hit.  Other conferences and award shows such as The Video Game Awards, and each company's own showcases have sort of diminished the appeal of E3. At least from a business perspective.  Who knows if something else will come from the ashes of a legend, and we will be here to find out. But with so many other ways to get your video game news, it may be unlikely we get another revival attempt from E3. pic.twitter.com/y6dtVkBvNI — E3 (@E3) December 12, 2023
